This is the amount you save every week and put in your own bank account. There is a table which shows how much you should save by certain dates. We are aiming for groups of five or more to save together,(and whole classes at school).

If a player owns ALL the sites of any Color-Group, the rent is Doubled on Unimproved Lots in that group.

You probably still want to know why this is important and why I am "giving away" such a large percentage of interest, and where the money is coming from. See the FAQ page.

Don't worry about Houses and Hotels at this stage. There will be an offer when enough people ae playing the game. In general a house will double in value every 5-10 years.
An Hotel, being worth more, appreciates faster even at the same interest rate. Property increases in value by between 5% and 20% per year, mainly dependant on location.

 Instructions for the game of Monopoly

[1]  You can play alone or with 4 or more friends.

The best team would be two couples and a "banker" (a mixture of men and women. Children can play but need an adult who is over 21 or a parent

[2] Decide how much you wish to save each week.

[3] Elect one of you who has a bank account with a separate account, to be the banker.

The banker collects the money and banks it, providing the others with regular statements. The charts opposite tell you how much you should have banked by certain dates throughout the year.

[4]  Once you have decided how much to save, and have your savings up to date, decide whether you want to buy a property (like Pall Mall) and a house, or two, depending on the number in your group.

[5] This game is designed mainly to get schools collecting cans, and saving as much as they can in a competition. It is not a pyramid scheme where interest is paid out of deposits. You will get your money back plus 2% at the very least. If thing don't go right, we will stop receiving deposits. $60 is a lot of money for a school child, but not so much to a multi millionaire.

[6] you may choose to  receive, (on loan) an original work of art to the value of your deposit. It must be returned when teh interest is paid, an the deposit returned to you.

Conditions.

The money you pay for a property and a house is fully refundable on demand, and bears interest of 2%.

(This is not a pyramid scheme, it is a bank). It will be banked with Kiwibank, a wholly New Zealand owned bank.

A monopoly is a rare thing. It is unlikely any one person will buy up all the properies on this board, or all the houses in real life.

My offer to Seeka Kiwifruit

 Last season I worked with Mr Ali, a devout Moslem man in the packhouse as a grader and a packer, earning $13 per hour. I told the workers I would try to get them another $10 for the season.

 Several years ago I was arrested for  trespass when I was talking on site to members of my Computer Operator's Union, Pelecan. I have been issued trespass notices from several business premises for talkin to employees about their wages.

 This year I worked for VLS, Seeka's lab for $13.50 hr and as a grader for $14 per hour. Pruners earn $13.50 per hour, and like Uncle, a retired school teacher from Pakistan, work 10 hrs a day 7 days a week for a take home pay of around $700.

 I charged Uncle, who usually lives in his own house in Auckland with his married daughter, $70 pw for rent.

 My offer to Seeka, now 20% owned by a Japanese company, is that I will pay their workers a bonus of $15 per hour, bringing their wages to a realistic level, but to do this I will have to find around $83,000,000 -$100,000,000

Seeka employ around 3,000 people.

Pickers, I'm told, earned $1.5 per bushel this year. Bins take between 30 minutes and 90 minutes to fill, and contain usually around 16 bushels. 10 bins per day is good going but hard work. Not all the picking is easy. Growers pay around $22 per bin to the contractor.

 If everyone saves just $2 per week, the earnings (100%) over 12 months are the same as if you save $6 or $50. 25 people saving $2 is the same as 2 people saving $25, so save $2 per week, and children, ask your parents if they have been saving $2 per week for you, and whether they think it is worthwhile to DOUBLE it.

By week 30, you should have saved $60, and you can still buy a property like OLD KENT ROAD or WHITECHAPEL ROAD.
