The Chapel.
This property occupies a triangle of land between Queen Street, in the north, Jocelyn Street and Boucher Avenue. It contains the chapel with its distinctive steeple and cross (picture), and the church hall. The old wooden Bishops' residence which was on the site was sold and removed. It had some original wallpaper designs on the walls, and there was a book of patterns. It has been and replaced by a new concrete block vicar's residence and office.
A second hand shop has been build and dominates the front corner. It does a very good trade. I bought a hardback copy of the Great Dune Trilogy by Frank Herbert there for $2.
The old red gum tree was removed because it dropped its nuts all over the path, and it became too much trouble to sweep them up. We had a meeting about cutting it down and I said if that happened I would leave, a vestry member gave me an uneqivocal assurance he would not let it happen, but the majority ruled in a secret ballot, so I left.
